Hi! My name is Amanda, and I am The Anxiety Wellness Queen! I am very passionate about mental health and reducing the stigma surrounding it.

I started The Anxiety Wellness Queen because I wanted to introduce a different way of learning and understanding towards mental health, in particular Anxiety.

Through my practice over the years I found I was drawn more and more to working with those who experience STRESS, PANIC and ANXIETY. It has become so prevalent over the years and I always felt it was misunderstood in many ways. I believe no two stories are the same, therefore no two treatments will be the same. It’s important to me that each individual receives the respect, time and care they need throughout this process. I love all things mindfulness, intention setting, cooking, gardening and picking up the old fashioned pen and paper and writing (Have you heard about the magic that happens when you do that?). I would absolutely Love to work with you One on One so please reach out and contact me so we can organise a complimentary call to chat more about you and the coaching process.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is one of the most common Mental Health conditions experienced in Australia and America today!

According to the APS (Australian Psychological Society) anxiety is referred to as ‘feelings of worry, nervousness or a sense of apprehension’. We all experience anxiety at some point in our lives and it is a perfectly normal reaction to have to a stressful or nerve racking event. Anxiety becomes an issue for many when it essentially begins to take over your life. The feelings become excessive, severe and overwhelming.

Anxiety is often accompanied with symptoms such as:

  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Racing Heart
  • Sweaty Palms
  • Difficulty Concentrating
  • Dry mouth
  • Nauseas
  • Hot and Cold Flushes
  • Tightness in your Chest
  • Excessive/Obsessive Thinking
  • Avoidance of People or Places
  • Negative Thoughts

And the list goes on….

‘One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day’

Each individual will experience different symptoms, caused by different triggers at different times of the day. There are a number of different types of Anxiety ‘DISorders’ according to the DSM.

These are the 6 Main types of Anxiety.

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Panic Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Phobia (Specific Phobias)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Even though these names and labels have been helpful in identifying particular symptoms in the past I have always felt uncomfortable using the words Disorder. To be honest it has never sat well with me. I don’t believe you are Disordered at all.

How would things change for you if you thought of anxiety as a symptom rather than a disorder? I would love to explore that further with you.
